Week 4 Summary
This week my teacher picked me to wear the empathy belly. We had to do various activities like taking our shoes off and putting them back on, walk up and down 2 flights of stairs at my school wearing a backpack (to stimulate a diaper bag) and carrying a baby doll in a baby carrier, sitting on the floor and standing back up, grabbing a box off of the top shelf and putting it back, picking up ten items off of the floor, and sitting in a desk the whole period. We then had to write a summary about our experience. It was easy but it did show what it is going to be like when you are pregnant and the every day things you do become slightly more challenging. Aside from the empathy bellies, we made a timeline from conception all the way to birth, and our teacher selected a group for us and assigned us a birth defect. We were then instructed to make a brochure all about our birth defect and next week we will present it and teach it to the class.
Week 3 Summary
During this whole week my class has been learning about the developments and processes during pregnancy. An aha moment that I had this week was when my teacher addressed the topic of the first month. By the end of the first month, the embryo is about one tenth of an inch long. The heart, which is no larger than a poppy seed, has begun beating. I thought that was really incredible that by the time span of four weeks the baby's body is already starting to undergo so many developments and changes.
